The Shaman will begin the journey in the air region equipped with both the boulder throw and gust ability. The objective of the game is to complete a puzzle in the air region using those abilities. The player will be able to explore a beautiful environment, with thematic music, beautiful spirit creatures and calming nature animations.


We have made the decision to make the vertical slice 2D rather than 3D because given our skillset as a team, we will be able to create a more successful and beautiful outcome. There will be two main focus’ for the development; beauty and puzzle objectives.


Changes have been made in order to create a vertical slice that we will be best be able to develop in order to really sell the main experiences if the game. Some elements have been removed because they were somewhat unnecessary to the experience or we may have decide that our own design changes would be better suited for the vertical slice.

Abilities

- Boulder throw. Direct from the staff by swiping. Distance limitation.

- Gust. Spin staff to direct gust.


Region transitions

- Player takes the courageous action to walk off of the cliff into ominous drop below.

- Animation to show the descent into the fire region


Mechanics

- Shaman movement; walk and jump

- Abilities; throw boulder as solid object to complete different tasks

- Puzzle completion through abilities and environment interaction

- Spirit guide to lead player around the environment – butterfly in air region
